My "Gripey" Giveaway

Usually, one of the first places I find in our new community after we move is the closest Target. Seriously. The kids call it "the pretzel store" for good reason...we often passed a lazy afternoon wandering the aisles, searching for good deals and snacking on pretzels and popcorn. But because the base here is quite a ways outside the city limits of Spokane, the nearest Target is, well, far away. TOO far away. Especially when I am used to having a Super Target right up the road. So...in celebration of being back online, I'm having a little contest. I measured, in miles, how far the nearest Target is from my door to theirs. The person who gets closest get a little box of fun Washington stuff. So leave your best guess (and NO cheating) in the comments and I'll tell the answer on Monday night and announce the winner. It's open to everyone...except you, Mom. I already griped to you about it.

Lucky guessing!

Ooh what a fun little contest! My guess is 62 miles! I couldn't imagine living too far away from a Target...it's one of my favorite stores!

My guess is 40 miles.

Maybe the powers-that-be at Target will read your blog and open a store near you in your honor!

I say 80!

OK- so if you know me well---I think I'll say--26.2?

Well since I lived there and done that one, I am trying to imagine that drive in my head...about 28 1/2 miles.

Is Airway Heights any bigger? Do they have any good stores this go around?

I wonder if that fun paper store is still there in the valley...remember we went there together...gooseberry, blueberry something berry.

I'm going to guess 35 miles. My Target has been closed since Feb for a remodel. It's going to reopen in October. I've had to drive about 15 miles to get to the next closest one. But I'm not complaining!

I guess 31 miles. So sad to be far away from a Target.

I have become addicted to Target. I cannot go in there without buying something and that something usually turns out ot be a good $50 worth of somethings! I think it would be good for me, and my checkbook, to live many miles away from a Target.

My guess is 29.

I say 65 miles.

27 miles is my guess, but it's strange to think of a town without the "staple" stores, target shopKo, walmart, and kmart

Hello,
We were neighbors of Wendy and Curtis when they were in Saratoga Springs. We now live in Liberty Lake. We love it, but we agree that we sure could use a Super Target!!

i live all of one mile from super-t. anything more than 5 would be just horrible. i'm going to guess that you live 70 miles since even for an hour in the car, a trip to super-t for those specific items that only they carry may just be worth it, but i would still gripe about it!

I live in the southeastern corner of Oklahoma and feel your pain. We live on a ranch and the nearest small town (like 500 people) is 12 miles away.(on a 2 lane country road!!) I am 1.5 HOURS from a Target!!!Yikes!

My guess is 32 miles away.

Love your blog by the way! I love, love, love the picture of the shelf on the homepage. You're the reason I have become addicted to monograms!!! Ha Ha

awww...dang.
Target, why so far?

How far? I'm guessing 20 miles to far.

Which is just far enough to be a pain, but not far enough to make it worth giving up base living to move closer (which I would do if it was 22 miles away). :)

I am trying to remember how far away it was, but I just know it always took a while and I didn't want to drive it very often....so I am saying 37 miles?

Since my Tar-jay is too far away as well, my guess is 39.7 miles. The exact distance my Target is from my front door. Hope yours is closer.

My uneducated guess is 33 miles. What a SUPER contest!

Well lets see, the next closest town to me is 20 miles (no Target) the next one is 20 miles from that one (no target) and finally 25 miles later you hit Lincoln and a Target and considering I still drive all that way just to visit Target I'm going to say 65 miles :-) Because anything less would SO be worth it.

32.2 miles-- random guess.

well it's monday night, but we'll if i get this in there in time . .

i wouldn't drive very far myself but know you might drive farther than me, so i was going to split the difference and say 20 miles, but i think there are a couple others who said 20 miles, so i'll say just under 20 miles.

Reminds me of what happened when we moved to the area - I HAD to have a Jazzercise )OK this was 16 years ago) and I was so excited when I found one during our house hunt. But by the time we got moved here, settled, and able to get back into the swing of things, they had CLOSED the place! Tramatic! So, I hear you!
