Treats

Much to the dismay of my husband and children, I hate to give candy to Trick-or-Treaters. So for the last few years, I have tried to come up with something fun that is non-candy. Last year, it was these. This year, I stalked the Target $1 Spot until they got their Halloween goodies in and bought pencils, mini notebooks, and erasers. then Anna helped me stuff them (plus some leftover stickers from last year) into baggies. I used a $1 Michael's stamp and my computer to come up with the tag and Tony stapled them all on. So we're all set...bring on the Trick-or-Treaters!!

My sewing machine has been a hummin' this week also, making baby gifts and Halloween costumes. I also dug out a cute Buttermilk Basin Halloween stitchery pattern and whipped up a cute little hanging for my entry. I love the silly little ghost.

And it is finally chilly enough to wear my trusty red slippers that have been waiting patiently beside my bed all summer. You better believe I'll be enjoying some hot chocolate, wearing my slippers, and watching TV after my run tonight, tucked under a blanket. I LOVE Fall!

I love that you are already prepared for trick-or-treaters! So cute! I just made the same Halloween sampler. I bet I got the pattern from you. Your evening sounds delightful! This is so my favorite time of year!

LOVE the non-sugary treats (although I must say that I do enjoy digging through Tatum and Chase's bags...)

Hi,
I'm a friend of Rosanne's and I check out your blog once in awhile and I have to say you have the cutest ideas. I'm a big pumpkin fan so I'm excited to test out the pumpkin fudge. Hope you don't mind.

Love your trick-or-treating idea. Being the wife of a pediatric dentist, I should totally go that route. But I'm just not as creative and organized as you, so it's candy this time. :) Maybe next year!

Such good ideas! I sometimes miss wearing slippers, but then I remember slippers and winter go together and I defintely don't want that. Glad someone appreciates the colder weather! :)

I love your ideas! I think any kid would love to get your 'treats'. The sampler is super cute. I definitely need to get myself a sewing machine.

So cute! I made the cookie cuter/playdough things for B's class last year. We printed and used a chocolate scented edible playdough recipe. The kids loved them and the parents loved that it wasn't another sugary treat! I want to trick or treat at your house~ cute baggies! Where did you find the clear bags to put the loot in? Miss Crafty~ have a super afternoon and put your feet up in those perfect fall time red slippers for a bit, o.k.? L&H, Les

Oh I would much rather have my child receive stuff like this than all that candy. I live out in the country and never get treaters so I don't have to do anything which I miss.

Love your stitchery. I have been wanting to try this out. What is muslin? I looked at Michaels but all I saw was crosstitch material.

You are so cute and creative! I love the ghost stitching. And what a great idea for Halloween treats! I haven't been keeping up with my running. It's been too busy and cold lately. Hoping to get back on track this week.
