Our Busy Halloween

We ran out of Halloween goodies about an hour ago, and as the last of our trick-or-treaters left, Anna turned to Grammy Joan and said, "This was the best day ever." I had to agree.

After Anna came home from preschool, I picked up Sam from school, we ate a quick lunch and then drove out to the base for Tony's promotion ceremony. It was so nice that Joan could be here for such a wonderful event for Tony. Tony's only request was that the kids come in their Halloween costumes. Joan and I got to pin his new major clusters on his uniform jacket and pound them in for luck and the kids changed out the epaulets on his shirt. It was so fun to have them involved in the ceremony.

After the ceremony, I ran Sam back to school and stayed to help with his class's Halloween party, if you can call it that because they didn't get to dress up. Bah humbug, I say. It is the sweetest class and we had a ball playing BINGO, eating treats and making candy necklaces.

At about 5:30, Tony got home from work and he and Joan took the kids trick-or-treating in our neighborhood while I handed out treats at home. It was THE most gorgeous day...the kids didn't even need jackets and came home with full candy bags and huge smiles. Josh even rode along in his stroller with his bunny ears on. For the record, Sam was a magician, Anna was his lovely assistant, and Josh was the rabbit.

Hope you had a wonderful, safe Halloween!

oh, so you're one of those moms who not only makes all her kids costumes, but they all go together in a theme! i just can't live up to it! very cute! but i must say, josh might hold the bunny costume against you and sam one day! :) we had a fun evening - let's see we trick-or-treated at the Alaska zoo in 19 degree weather! poor vincent - with his long johns, then his pants and turtelneck, then his pumpkin sweatshirt, then his fleece snowsuit, and finally his frog costume and snow boots - he was such a stuffed frog, he could barely hold himself up - but boy did he look cute, and kateri stayed nice and toasty in almost as many layers under her butterfly costume. ah, Alaskan Halloweens!
happy november, and all saints and souls day!

Look at Anna in that one picture...her hip sticking out, what a good assistant! All three of them look so cute...love the theme.
Congratulations to Major McIllece! I like the "M's". With my last name starting with an H I always wanted to name my kids with names that started with an H...but then didn't. Anyways what nice family pictures you got. What a great day for a promotion.
School parties are the best too. :)

Congrats to Tony!

Our schools here choose to not wear costumes to school and I think that was a big bummer too! We don't even get to have parties! Your kids are darling and the costumes look awesome! Glad you guys had a "PERFECT" day!

Congratulations Tony!!!! Amber your Halloween sounds a lot like ours, except we ded get to dress up--I was complaining about not having a parade. Teach me to be grateful. I was curious about your blurb book. Do we have to print all the postings in the book and do they have to be in order? let me know. Thanks,
Kristen

Amber~ the kiddos costumes ROCK! I love that idea for your trio! Might have to use that one in the future. Bryce and I were already deciding for next year since Priss can walk with him! He's got some good ones up his sleeve. Now, back to your post. CONGRATS to your hubby! Awesome, awesome that is! Don't you love that the kids could 'pound' them on? Bryce got such a big kick out of that at Jasn's last promotion ceremony. Heck, so did I since I got to do one! For the record~ even though I could have, I did not wallup my sweet hubby. ;) Happy rest of your weekend. Hope your weather stays as nice as it was yesterday. Ours seems to be~ BIG YEA!!! Hugs, Les

Congratulations on the promotion! I vaguely remember being at one of my dad's promotions and being so proud of him. I'm sure your kids were proud as punch of their dad.

The costumes were darling! I love the way Anna posed. You can tell she's dancer. :)

It was warm for Halloween here too. It also rained.

On to the next round of holidays.

OK--so you are a super hero mother and wife! Seriously, I don't know how you do it all! For the record, when we moved to Ohio, I hung up a cute little witchy on my front door. An hour or so later, my neighbor came to tell me that witches are considered to be sedistic, and that I should not hang it on my front door! The town never trick or treated ON Halloween. The kids did get to dressup at school, but not on Halloween day! I never figured it all out! Funny.

Congrats to Tony! I love that he wanted to have the kids at the ceremony in costume. My dad's only request at ceremonies was that we behave and don't fight!
